The unidentified teen was arrested again on Wednesday, Jan. 15, in connection with the rape of a woman walking home on East Main Street in October 2019, said Lt. Tom Scanlon with the Stamford Police Department.
The first rape took place on Aug. 23, 2019, when a woman told police she was coming from work and was violently assaulted by the teen.
The second incident took place on Oct. 24, 2019, in the Cove section of town when a woman was grabbed from behind by the juvenile and dragged to an area near an abandoned home where the assault took place, Scanlon said.
Scanlon said investigators, who had tirelessly canvassed the neighborhood, got a break following the second attack and working with the state attorney's office and received an arrest warrant for the crime committed in August.
Stamford investigators tracked the teen after he fled the state and working with the U.S. Marshall's Office arrested the teen in Maryland on Nov. 27, Scanlon said.
He was arrested for the first rape on Dec. 5, 2019, and police then submitted DNA evidence from the second attack, which came back as a match for the attack and the teen was arrested again, Scanlon added.
The teen has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, strangulation and armed robbery.
He is being held in lieu of a $2.5 million court appearance bond in the latest case.
The teen's name is not being released due to recent laws that protect juveniles' identities when place on an adult crime docket.
Scanlon said he hopes the arrest will help the victim's overcome these "heinous crimes."
Anyone who thinks they were attacked by the same person and have not come forward is asked to contact the department at 203-977-4417 to speak with an investigator.
